A letter from Paul Summers

CBC Paul Summer Senior Pastor

CBC UPDATE   –   Friday 21 January 2022

Hi Church Family

I’ve been reminded this week of the power of perseverance! On Wednesday we had 25 youth, 8 leaders and our wonderful camp cooks Neil and Cathy Reynolds go down to Gerringong for our annual Youth Summer Camp. Organising a youth camp in the middle of this Omicron wave has been quite a challenge, and there were many moments where we could have cancelled the camp. Instead, what we saw was a collective effort of perseverance – from youth, parents, leaders and cooks! – to do whatever it takes for the camp to proceed, and I believe we will see great spiritual fruit because of it.

In the book of James we read this: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Faithful perseverance – pursuing the things of God despite challenge and opposition and discouragement – is a vital element in our Christian walk. It’s essential if we are to have a mature faith and live in the fulness of all God has for us. So let me ask you: in what way(s) is God calling you to persevere in faith today?

Our 9:30am and 5:00pm services will be in-person and online this Sunday:
To access the livestream for the Sunday services, please click here.

For those attending in person, we need to comply with the following precautions laid out by the NSW Government:

  • Masks are compulsory for all attendees, unless you are exempt from wearing one according to NSW Government Face Mask Rules. For those wearing masks, we do ask that you keep it on and properly fitted for the whole time you are inside the church building;
  • Seating will be according to the 2sqm rule for Places of Public Worship;
  • When you arrive you will need to check in through scanning one of our QR codes and show one of our wardens on arrival that you are checked in. Non-household members need to remain socially distanced 1.5 meters apart. If you are unwell please remain at home.

Finally, as I mentioned last week, if you are in isolation and you need anything – prayer, encouragement, practical needs – please reach out to your church family for help. We know this is a challenging time for people, and we don’t want anyone to feel like they need to go through it alone.
In Christ,

Pastor Andrew

CBC UPDATE   –   Friday 14 January 2022

Hi Church Family

It’s amazing isn’t it? For two years Covid has been this far-off (or at least, arms-length) thing that we’ve been protecting ourselves against, and all of a sudden we’re right in the thick of it! As the Omicron wave makes its way through our local and church community, we have the opportunity to respond with faith, hope and love as the people of God.

If you currently have Covid or are isolating as a close contact, please reach out to your church family for help – whether that be prayer, encouragement or practical support. If you need someone to go shopping for you, or just want to chat as you go through your isolation, please get in touch… with me, with your small group, or with someone from Leadership. And please take the opportunity to connect through one of our livestreamed services this Sunday.

To access the livestream for the Sunday services, please click here.

If you are not currently in isolation, I want to really encourage you to attend church in-person this Sunday. We are following all the precautions laid out by the NSW Government, including:

  • Masks are compulsory for all attendees, unless you are exempt from wearing one according to NSW Government Face Mask Rules. For those wearing masks, we do ask that you keep it on and properly fitted for the whole time you are inside the church building;
  • Seating will be according to the 2sqm rule for Places of Public Worship;
  • When you arrive you will need to check in through scanning one of our QR codes and show one of our wardens on arrival that you are checked in. Non-household members need to remain socially distanced 1.5 meters apart. If you are unwell please remain at home.

In times like these we need wisdom, grace, boldness, sensitivity, truth, love, compassion and more. In otherwise, we need God! And we need to stay connected with God’s people. So let’s press on, trusting in God’s goodness and provision to us, and seeking to be his hands and feet (and heart) to respond to those in need.

In Christ,

Pastor Andrew
