At CBC we’re convinced there is a God in heaven who loves people, and sent His Son Jesus Christ to earth to die for our sin and show us the way back to God.

We’re also convicted that we have a role to play in the extension of His Kingdom while He gives us breath on this planet.

The apostle Paul tells those who are in Christ; “you are fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:19-22). We are partners in the gospel. Philippians 1:5

What does that look like in the 21st century?

  • It’s a supportive and encouraging place where Sppirit-lead preaching brings a new God-focused direction to people’s lives
  • where corporate worship is God-honouring, vital and inspiring
  • where God’s worldwide mission puts lives into perspective
  • where believers gather in small groups to renew their minds from God’s word and share their hearts on the deepest levels
  • where people compassionately walk with each other through life’s problems and pain
  • where everyone feels empowered to make a difference through their spiritual gifts
  • where prayer and spiritual warfare is taken seriously
  • where the rich share their God-given resources with the poor
  • where people share the Good News of Jesus Christ as a natural outworking of their everyday relationships

It may sound a little over the top. But … this is the dream of God: a body of people in partnership together, eager to serve Him and love each other, until his Son returns.

This is the vision of a healthy church, to be all things mentioned above. We haven’t arrived there yet, but by the grace of God, we’re heading in that direction. May we be a church that the Lord Jesus is proud of.
